Oh gosh, we have left out Windows Mobile

Inspired by windfreeze, here is my review of Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.

Although I just bought this phone 2 days ago and first time playing with Symbian phone, I’m not totally lost when using this phone. Compare to Win Mo phone, Nokia 5800 equipped with Symbian S60 5th Edition is more user friendly. It’s more easy to use by non techy person.

Due to windfreeze’s laziness, I’ll just write in point forms and categories them as pros and cons. Hope you don’t mind.

Pros

• Nice design, sexy enough and with a blue/red color strip around the phone.
• 3.2 MP with Carl Zeiss lens, Auto Focus
• 3.2′’ TFT touch screen (=PSP)
• 16.7 million colors (=PSP)
• nHD 640×360 resolution (greater than PSP and iPhone 3G[480x320])
• Free MicroSD 8GB
• A-GPS
• Flexibility of the GUI , many options
• Large amount of software for Symbian
• 2 Independent high quality speaker
• Can sync everything with OVI
• The sense of touch is far better than Win Mo, maybe as good as iPhone
• Low price
• Responsive than WinMo even using 369 mhz processor
• A lot of ways to input letters, Full/Half QWERT, Alphanumeric(old fashioned), Full/Mini Handwriting……
• DVD quality video playback
• Contact bar, display recent sms/call/rss of ur friend.

Cons

• A BIG X for the photo quality especially capturing photo with low light condition. Sample:

  Honestly, my SE W810 is far better when capturing photo under the same condition.
• Battery drain up quite fast
• Software for touch screen is still limited
• Hardly find any other CONS, maybe you would like to say it does not provide multi-touch??!!

Conclusion

It’s almost a perfect phone for me, as well as large amount of 5800 users out there. It’s relatively cheap and yet have all the features I needed.

I’m almost forgetting iPhone 3G and Windows Moblie Phones. Unless iPhone &WM get another innovative improvement (and lower their price).

纯粹放爽

终于等到今天了，其实等到差一点麻木了。但是把Nokia 5800拿上手后，真的是惊喜连连。

Touch方面好过任何一架Windows Mobile，直逼iPhone，要挑剔的话只能说没有Multi-Touch。第一次用Symbian机，可是基本的东西很快就能上手，只是其它Software要慢慢摸索，因为太多好software了。

速度方面，分辨不出500++mhz和这架369mhz的差别。

到目前为止，最头痛的就是室内拍照了。。真的是太差了，还差过SE W810。看来以后都很少机会拍美食照了，除非买了DSLR

Few days ago, the preorder page for Nokia 5800 in Malaysia finally went online. I quickly submitted the form without hesitation. And here is the link http://www.nokia.com.my/A41275064 . This preorder will ends by December 31, 2008 and the retail price still yet to be announced.

Meanwhile Nokia will be holding a grand launch event for the Nokia 5800 next year (long huh..lolz!!):
